March, 2024
Across four different projects, del Pesco
has organized the disbursement of 17,000 USD
in direct grants to artists.
From 2013 to 2014, with the support of a friend who remained anonymous (except to the grantees) we gave 12 travel grants of $1,000 once-per-month to an SF Bay Area artist with a specific need to travel.
We invited artists to send a one paragraph description of where they wanted to go and why via email, attaching 3-5 images of their work. Submissions were open from the 1st through the 20th of each month. The only thing asked of awardees was to send a postcard from their travel destination.

The exhibition featured a selection of unconventional granting endeavors, including Service Works by Josh Greene, the Co-op Bar by Steve Lambert and others. The propositional foundation also gave a series of grants that included one that collected surplus publications from area institutions, which were sold as a library survey of SF arts orgs to an institution in San Jose. The income became a grant that was awarded during the exhibition.
